Tim Bradford is a straw-haired unshaven comedy writing supernova, KING of all kinds of scratchy drawing, wang-eyed painting and not-quite-made-up tangential writing – in fact he is most likely the best on his street. At least that’s what his family tell him. When they’re in a good mood.

Other boasts:
• Shane MacGowan once called his writing style “sort of Joycean” – though that might mean the punctuation was a bit off.
• The Fall’s Mark E Smith said he liked his football cartoons
• During his solo art exhibition in Ireland some french tourists said they really liked his paintings (though they didn’t buy any).
• As for awards, he was nominated for Sports Cartoonist of the Year in 1995 and won Most Improved Player for his U16 football team in 1981.
